HOW TO FEEL AT HOME IN ROME: PALAZZO SCANDERBERG

Irene Ferri February 26, 2018

I've visited Rome many times, but the last time I went (October 2017) I had the pleasure to be hosted in an incredible historical palace in the very heart of Rome: Palazzo Scanderberg.

Situated just a couple minutes walking from the world famous Trevi Fountain, I would define the elegant Palazzo Scanderberg as the perfect union of luxury and practicability: built in the 15th century and renovated in 2016, the ancient house now features 10 modern apartments, all unique in their styles and characteristics.

Most of the apartments are HUGE. I found them perfect for families, couples and groups of friends. I was extremely impressed because it's not easy to find this type of structures nowadays in Rome.

The Palace "takes its name for the Albanian hero and prince George Castriot Scanderbeg who commissioned the Palace in the 15th century".

The Globalite and I had time to unplug and relax, taking a break from work before heading from Lazio to Umbria. We checked out both the Ambassador Suite (a 166 meters unforgettable suite on three luxurious floors), where we hang out in the afternoon, and The Scanderbeg Suite (the most exclusive suite of the palace, which provides a very romantic experience not giving up on day comforts). where we spent the night.

With wooden beams decorating the ceilings and pavements made of Venetian mooring posts, the suites provide a perfect luxurious, cozy experience.

All apartments feature a complimentary minibar which is most definetely the most equipped I've ever seen. Snacks and an incredible variety of wines and champagnes are also available.

In the evening we had a really nice dinner with some friends from Germany in our suite living room, taking advantage of our well furnished and equipped innovative kitchen. Since Palazzo Scanderbeg gifted us with a delicious package of Paccheri and sauce at our arrival, we decided to indulge in the most Italian dish of all times: PASTA!

The Palazzo was for me a true home away from home, "una casa lontano da casa”, and I barely wanted to leave my room during the time I spent there, which is quite crazy if you think that Rome is my favorite city in the world. I extremely recommend staying here if you want to treat yourself and feel home at the same moment, next time you are in Rome!

Being so close to the Trevi Fountain, I could easily wake up early and have it all for myself, beating the crowd. What a dream come true!

In the morning, a very friendly personal butler came to our apartment to cook us breakfast DIRECTLY in our kitchen. We felt so pampered and incredibly taken care of. You could enjoy your breakfast both indoor, enjoying your privacy, and outdoor, overlooking the Roman neighborhood.

There are different options for breakfast, depending on your nutrition needs and your daily mood: “Be Light”, “Be Champion”and "Be Scanderbeg”. The Globalite and I both decide to have Be Scanderberg which comes with a glass of Prosecco because.. YOLO, right? All the dishes were incredibly fresh, tasty and abundant.

Palazzo Scanderberg is very central, so we could easily reach all the main points of interest in Rome. In the evening we enjoyed a relaxing stroll to Piazza Navona, while on Sunday morning we walked to the Porta Portese Flea Market and took some pictures at the Colosseum as well.

There are so many great monuments, museums and photogenic spots in Rome! I'll cover more of them in my next articles. For this time.. that's all folks!

🇬🇧 A few days ago it was the 2nd anniversary of my departure from the US. One of the saddest and most discouraging moments of my life. I had invested everything in Los Angeles, in Ucla and finally I had a life full of satisfactions. A home, a job, a car, lots of friends.. A few days before my visa expiry, my company at that time (out of the blue) did not support me anymore. In 10 days I had to leave the USA.-
-
I cried, screamed, I was in total shock (I still remember that my friends packed my luggages for me cause I was in total denial). My life was stolen from me, a life that I had spent 3 years building. It took me a while to recover, but 2 years later I can say that life goes on, I'm still surrounded by beautiful things, and even if I miss California very much I'd have never traveled this much if I stayed there. This is to tell you, my friends, that even the most horrible moments are still "detours in the right direction". Tonight I'll have a toast to me, to you, to the starting overs. We are in this (life) together. Cheers 🥂-
-
We are in this together🥂
"Believing that you can move mountains sometimes is more important than actually having the ability to do so."-

Quindi ci vediamo in via Cesare Beccaria 2 giovedí 19! See ya there :) Io sarò lì, mi starò provando tutti i vestiti 😂-
-
-
🇬🇧 Guys, it's gonna be a Milan type of week!
The Design Week and Salone del Mobile are about to start, so I'm gonna be in the Big City for the next week (did you know that I lived there for 3 years?). But what if we want to catch up in person?!-
-
As you have seen, I joined the beautiful project of @thenorthface #movemountains, which aims not only empowers creators, athletes, and explorers, but that also dedicates to us women a complete outdoor collection.
In a few days, you'll be able to discover the new collection at the Cisalfa Sport store in Duomo! Save the date: Thursday 19th! See ya there 😘-
-
ps In this photo my girl who moves mountains @lilly.blues and I were nicely portrayed during our first day in Hamburg by a passer-by who randomly offered to take a picture of us. Notice how brave we are and how we fear neither the cold nor falling from the bridge we climbed 😂-
-
"You haven’t experienced Germany until you have been to Hamburg."-

I really wanna thank @come_to_hamburg for helping me build a perfect itinerary for our weekend in the city. I did not expect Hamburg to be so beautiful and so full of things to see. Little by little I will show you everything! This photo was taken in an alley near the #Krameramtsstuben, the oldest surviving residential buildings in central Hamburg. I always like to show you the most photogenic places in the cities that I visit so that when you get there you will know exactly where to go to shoot! What do you think? 😉Do you like guides to the post instagrammable and photogenic spots in town? I'm obviously obsessed with them! 😬-
-
A me ovviamente moltissimo! 😝-

Crazy but true, I've only just recently run into the term "Heure Bleue", the blue hour that characterizes the transition from day to nightime. I have witnessed many "Golden Hours" in my life, but I feel like no photo could do more justice to the concept of Heure Bleue than this one I took in Germany a few days ago, watching the sky dye and the Elbphilharmonie, the Hamburg Philharmonic, light up. I got a little emotional ❤. Where have you witnessed the most beautiful sunsets in your life?-
-
"Blu inchiostro, blu cielo, blue Klein, blu ciano, blu oltremare.

-
🇬🇧 Guys today in the pic it's not me, but @lilly.blues, who in these days has been traveling with me through Germany and Denmark. We've been friends for 10 years, and last year she moved to London after dreaming of it for her whole life. She now works closely with special kids, affected by mental and physical impairments. The mountains that she is trying to move are the ones of ignorance and prejudice towards these kinds of disability, and she works in order to guarantee a fair education to everybody and to help them express themselves as individuals.-
-
Her days include moving wheelchairs and changing diapers, but also singing with the kids and providing them with the necessary skills to live their life. I admire her immensely and that's why I chose her to represent my source of inspiration for the new @thenorthface campaign "Move Mountains". What about you? Who inspires you daily to live and create a more meaningful life?🤗-

New article on my blog :) 🇬🇧 Today I wanna celebrate with you the end of this winter sharing with you the memories from the experiences I lived in Borgo Cadonega Relais & Spa in Italy these recent months. Between the Spa with the snow flaking outside, the innovative Restaurant dishes and the beautiful stone rooms of the Relais, I really fell in love with this structure.
-
Whether you live in Italy or not, if you pass by you can't miss this beautiful place out! Where have you spent this winter?- 🇮🇹 Nuovo articolo sul mio blog :)

Stumbled upon this super photogenic barber shop (he was originally Italian but moved years ago to NYC) which looking for Carrie Bradshow's home in Greenwich Village 😂😬 what's the most beautiful place you accidentally stumbled into? Tag me in your pics, I wanna see it! ❤-

“I had chosen to leave, and live alone in a foreign country. And in fleeing thousands of miles across the Pacific, I chose myself, and a chance at a different future.”
-
🇬🇧 Guys in this period I started missing the U.S. again, I miss it very much (if you just recently started following me, I lived there 3 years and I'd never have left if I didn't have to😶). I miss the freedom of thought of LA, its cultural diversity, but above all I miss my friends. Sometimes I feel "forced" to visit new destinations (if I have to be really honest with you) just to be able to get new shots and material for my blog and social media. How sad it is? 😭😂 Don't get me wrong. I love visiting new countries, but sometimes the ego pushes you to decisions that are very far from the heart. This time I'm trying to say fuck you to my ego and book a flight to California in June so I can visit all my friends ❤-
-
What about you? Have you ever traveled to a place just to take pictures, to get new material for your social media, or simply to ✅ check out a place from your list?- -
🇬🇧"People travel to faraway places to watch, in fascination, the people they ignore at home." Dagobert D. Runes-
-
I red this quote today and it hit me really close. I feel like it really resonates with mine (our) time. What do you think?-
-
On a side note, how lucky I was to get this shot in the NYC metro? 😉-
-
-
On a side note, che fortuna ho avuto a beccare questo momento in metropolitana? 🙃-
